After School Clubs

After School Clubs!

Manzano Mesa Elementary School offers many before and after school programs.  Programs are offered in academics, hobbies, sports and arts. Programs are taught by a variety of individuals including members of Sandia National Labs, certified teachers, spouses of teachers, and community parents.  A yearly registration for before/after school programs is offered on Open House/ Curriculum Night in September.  Parents must register their students and students are then selected through a lottery process to attend each program.  Parents can sign students up for as many programs as available.  All school programs are offered at no cost to MMES students and their families, thanks to a variety of grants.  All school programs are managed by an onsite child care program, Children's Choice.  All students are signed in to each school program daily and all after school program students must be signed out by parents no later than 5:15 pm. If you are unable to pick your student up at 5:30 PM or might need continued daycare after the 5:30 PM time please speak to a Children's Choice employee and they will work with you on a solution.  No transportation is offered for school programs.  Anyone picking up a student must be 18 years or older, present a valid photo ID, and be on the approval list.

Volunteer Opportunities!

Manzano Mesa Elementary School is always looking for new after school club ideas.  If you have a talent or hobby that you would like to share with students, please contact Deanna Creighton Cook.  Deanna will be happy to discuss the possibility of you becoming a member of our after school family.

The Community School Initiative (CSI) Grant

The Community School Initiative (CSI) grant is funded by the ABC Community School Partnership.  Partners include Bernalillo County, the City of Albuquerque, Albuquerque Public Schools, United Way of Central NM and the Albuquerque Business Education Compact.  The objective of this partnership is to provide elementary and middle school-age children opportunities to thrive in before and/or after school environments that encourage improved student learning, stronger families, and healthier communities.  Funds from this initiative help to pay for many of our own after school programs.
